Mobile Live Fire Training Unit (MLFTU)

In spite of extreme heat, the MLFTU is designed for safety during training.

Description

Firefighters are confronted with real flames, extreme heat, high humidity, severely restricted visibility and thick smoke during their training. This allows them to train for an emergency as realistically as possible. The Dräger Mobile Live Fire Training Unit is a 53 foot, multi-purpose training vehicle designed for versatility of training and ease of transport. It is equipped with an on-board generator and a supply of gas cylinders. A second story can be hydraulically raised during operation and lowered for transport. The MLFTU is easily transportable. It is equipped with an on-board power generator and a supply of gas cylinders. It can therefore be operated completely without external supplies. The MLFTU can also be combined with other fixed training installations.

Redundant safety devices for gas and temperature monitoring in accordance with relevant NFPA and CSA codes and guidelines control the conditions in the burn areas. If defined limits are exceeded or the emergency cut-off switch is operated, the system is automatically switched off and forced ventilation is activated.

Features
  • Different layouts
    • Dräger’s Mobile Live Fire Training Units are available with different layout options, based on an individual customer’s training requirements and budget. In a compact form, they integrate elements of a fire simulation system for training in accordance with NFPA 1403. Typical configurations include 1 to 2 fires, a control and monitoring station and gas and power for the self-sufficient operation of the system.
    • The fire training trailer can be equipped with multiple different training props, such as a moveable wall system. Re-configurable wall panels allow for flexible variations of confined space elements.
  • Accessible roof
    • The accessible roof of the fire simulation trainer can also be used as an extended training area. A roof ventilation prop (pitched roof) is also available for the Dräger Mobile Live Fire Training Unit. Furthermore, a hydraulically retractable second story room is available, configured in a “walk-through” design with 2 doors and stairwell access to the lower level. This allows for training on fire attack from up slope and down slope. Along with the pitched roof, this room is designed to be easily lowered for transport.
  • Operation with gas cylinders
    • Dräger fire simulation trailers are supplied with gas two DOT compliant propane cylinders with a capacity of 420 lb (190 kg) each. The cylinders are located in a dedicated room and do not reduce the available space in the training area of Dräger’s MLFTU.
  • Customer-specific solutions
    • To address individual training requirements, all systems are designed specifically for the customer. Applicable standards and the latest technology are incorporated in every design.
    • The selection of typical fire scenarios includes:
      • Kitchen
      • Bed/couch
      • Multiprop (various props available)
      • Wall fire
      • Rollover
